Echinacea angustifolia
Orally, echinacea is used for treating and preventing the common cold, influenza, and other upper respiratory infections. Echinacea is also used orally as an immunostimulant for fighting a variety of other infections, including otitis media, urinary tract infections (UTIs), vaginal candidiasis (yeast infections), herpes simplex virus, human papilloma virus, HIV/AIDS, septicemia, tonsillitis, streptococcus infections, syphilis, typhoid, malaria, swine flu, warts, and diphtheria. Other uses include chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), leukopenia, anxiety, rheumatoid arthritis, migraines, dyspepsia, pain, dizziness, rattlesnake bites, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and improving exercise performance. Topically, echinacea is used for gingivitis, boils, abscesses, skin wounds and ulcers, burns, eczema, psoriasis, UV radiation-induced skin damage, herpes simplex, Candida infections, bee stings, snake and mosquito bites, and hemorrhoids
